In a bid to boost infrastructure, agriculture, health, power, and mining, the Nasarawa State Government has initiated talks with Jampur Group, a Dubai-based international conglomerate, to explore collaborative ventures across multiple sectors.
Governor Abdullahi Sule, who led the discussions at the Government House, highlighted opportunities for the private sector to partner with the state on several flagship projects. A key focus of the talks was the specialist hospital in Akwanga, which Governor Sule intends to upgrade under a build-operate-transfer (BOT) model. The arrangement would allow Jampur Group to manage the facility for an agreed period, supply equipment, and train local personnel before the state assumes full control.
The Governor also emphasized the potential for collaboration in agriculture, pointing to the Jangwa Rice Farm as a model for large-scale investment. Sule noted that with the right partnership, Nasarawa could replicate successful agricultural projects like those Jampur Group has implemented in Mozambique, thereby boosting local rice production and cementing the state’s leadership in key food crops, including sesame, cassava, yams, and rice.
Power generation emerged as another significant area for partnership. Governor Sule identified Farin Ruwa Waterfalls as a potential site for hydropower projects, with the advantage of proximity to a high-tension line from NESCO, making direct integration into the national grid feasible. Similarly, the mining sector presents opportunities for private investment in power supply and infrastructure support for companies operating in the state.
The Governor directed key officials, including the Deputy Governor, Commissioner for Health, Commissioner for Environment, and heads of NASIDA and NASEB, to spearhead negotiations with Jampur Group in their respective sectors to ensure comprehensive collaboration.
Representing Jampur Group, Country Manager Muhammad Asad Javeed outlined the firm’s extensive experience across Africa, including power generation for airports, mining operations, agriculture production units, and healthcare equipment manufacturing. He affirmed the company’s readiness to extend these capabilities to Nasarawa State, emphasizing mutual benefits and sustainable development outcomes.
Governor Sule concluded by stressing that Nasarawa State is committed to building strong public-private partnerships that leverage local resources, create jobs, and expand economic opportunities across the state.
