August 25, 2025 – Residents of Garin Kolo faced yet another destructive downpour today, resulting in the collapse of homes, latrines, and wells. The heavy rainfall contaminated public water sources and exacerbated the hardships of families already struggling in the wake of prior floods.

In the aftermath of recent floods that impacted multiple communities in Potiskum, the Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), in collaboration with the Water Supply and Sanitation Initiative (WASSI) and supported by UNICEF, has provided hygiene kits to 150 households in Afghanistan, Makarahuta, and Filin Nashe communities.

The Sokoto State Government has confirmed the death of four passengers in a boat accident at Kojiyo village, Goronyo Local Government Area, along the Sokoto Rima River. The tragedy occurred around 1:00 pm on Sunday, when the boat conveying passengers capsized.
