His Excellency, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Executive Governor of Lagos State, has hosted fellow governors from the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) at the State Government House in Lagos. The meeting brought together state leaders to deliberate on pressing national issues, including security, economic resilience, and the welfare of Nigerian citizens, with a shared commitment toward collective action and renewed hope.
Governors reaffirmed their support for Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration and its ongoing efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s security architecture. Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized that safeguarding citizens remains the foremost duty of government. The Forum resolved to reinforce coordination between federal, state, and community-based security mechanisms, aiming to make protection more responsive, inclusive, and effective across both urban and rural areas.
Given the challenging economic environment and the pressures many households face, the governors committed to measures designed to lighten the burden on ordinary Nigerians. Their roadmap includes support for food production, empowerment of small and medium-size enterprises, youth employment programs, and targeted relief to vulnerable households. These interventions are aimed at cushioning citizens from the immediate economic strain while building a foundation for sustainable development and economic opportunity.
The meeting concluded with a renewed pledge to uphold the values and objectives of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and deliver on the “Renewed Hope Agenda.” The governors vowed to work with transparency, inclusiveness, and accountability as they implement policies and programmes designed to improve quality of life, foster social cohesion, and restore public confidence in governance.
This gathering and its resolutions come at a critical time, as communities across Nigeria continue to confront threats from insecurity, economic hardship, and social uncertainty. The emphasis on coordinated state and federal action, community-level security engagement, and citizen-centered economic relief reflects a recognition that only collective, well-managed initiatives can meet Nigeria’s complex challenges.
For citizens, the commitments made offer a sign of renewed optimism — not just in political rhetoric, but in the possibility of tangible improvements in security, economic stability, and social welfare. As these plans roll out, residents will be watching to see whether promises translate into meaningful action and improved living conditions across the country.
