Security personnel have been deployed to protect campaign posters and billboards bearing the image of President Bola Tinubu in Kaduna State ahead of his expected visit on Saturday, October 24, 2026, for the planned launch of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign.

The deployment, reported on Friday, October 23, involves personnel of the Kaduna State Traffic Law Enforcement Authority (KASTLEA) and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), who have been stationed at strategic locations to prevent the vandalism of campaign materials.

According to Daily Trust, security operatives were assigned to locations along major roads leading to the Kaduna Township Stadium, the venue of the planned campaign rally, including the route between the stadium and Kawo.

An operative involved in the assignment disclosed that personnel had been directed to protect the campaign materials, particularly at night, when vandalism was considered more likely.

The operative said the deployment followed instructions communicated through the relevant security unit.

Police officers, plain-clothes operatives and patrol vehicles were also observed at major roads, roundabouts and locations surrounding the expected rally venue.

Security personnel were reportedly stationed along Ahmadu Bello Way and near the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital roundabout as preparations intensified.

Meanwhile, the Kaduna State Police Command announced restrictions on the movement of heavy-duty vehicles during the presidential visit.

The Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Rabiu, explained that the restrictions were intended to reduce traffic congestion and facilitate movement within the metropolis.

He said the measures would apply to trailers, tankers, lorries and other articulated vehicles, rather than ordinary commuters.

Rabiu also confirmed that the police were working with other security agencies to provide protection for the president, visiting dignitaries, campaign participants and members of the public.

The campaign launch is expected to attract APC leaders, governors from the North-West and supporters from different parts of the country.

Kaduna State Deputy Governor Hadiza Balarabe, who chairs the event's Local Organising Committee, said preparations at the Kaduna Township Stadium were nearing completion.

She explained that arrangements had been made for security screening and crowd management ahead of the gathering.

Campaign posters and billboards featuring Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima and Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani have also appeared along major roads in the state capital.

The deployment of security personnel specifically to protect political campaign materials has drawn attention to the security arrangements surrounding the event.

However, the authorities have not publicly disclosed the cost of protecting the posters and billboards or provided details of any confirmed vandalism incidents that prompted the deployment.

The campaign event is scheduled for Saturday, with security arrangements expected to remain in place before and during the president's visit.
