
he National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) has released the results of the 2025 in-school National Business Certificate (NBC) and National Technical Certificate (NTC) examinations, showing significant improvements in candidate performance and enrollment figures.
The Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of NABTEB, Dr. Mohammed Aminu Mohammed, announced that over 92,000 candidates registered for the June/July examinations, representing a 37% increase from 2024. Of these, about 80,000 candidates achieved credits in English and Mathematics, with 61,104 candidates (68.18%) scoring five credits or more, including English and Mathematics.
The 2025 results show progress compared to the 2024 examinations, where 44,000 candidates (65.34%) obtained five credits including English and Mathematics, and 62,235 candidates (92.42%) scored five credits or more with or without English and Mathematics.
Dr. Mohammed highlighted that 57,651 (62.07%) of the candidates were male, while 35,224 (37.93%) were female. He also noted a reduction in examination malpractice, with only 435 candidates (0.47%) involved in 516 incidents, compared to 349 candidates (0.52%) in 2024.
The examinations were conducted nationwide from June 16 to July 17, 2025, across 1,892 centres, up from 1,708 centres in 2024. Candidates sat for 16 Engineering Trades, 7 Construction Trades, 9 Miscellaneous Trades, 4 Business Trades, and 16 General Education Subjects.
In subject-specific results, 85,476 candidates were graded in English, with 93.10% passing, while 85,805 candidates were graded in Mathematics, with 94.60% passing. Compared to 2024, more candidates passed Mathematics this year, while English pass rates slightly decreased.
Dr. Mohammed emphasized the importance of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in equipping youths with technical and vocational skills relevant to the modern knowledge economy. He also announced that registration for the 2025 November/December NBC/NTC and ANBC/ANTC examinations has commenced, with candidates able to register via the NABTEB portal at novdec.nabteb.gov.ng or at any State or Zonal Office.
He expressed gratitude to the Federal Ministry of Education, NABTEB management, and staff for their roles in the successful conduct and timely release of the examination results, noting that the results reflect the continued support for TVET initiatives aimed at empowering Nigerian youths with 21st-century skills.
