LSMTL HOSTS TRAINING FOR OFFICERS AND CLERICAL STAFF TO BOOST SERVICE DELIVERY

The Lagos State Materials Testing Laboratory Agency (LSMTL) recently concluded a three-day training programme aimed at equipping officers and clerical staff on Grade Levels 03-10 with advanced skills for exceptional service delivery and effective workplace management.

Held from Monday, 22nd September to Wednesday, 24th September 2025, the training carried the theme: “Excellence in Service: Delivering for Customers and Thriving in the Workplace”. It underscores the Agency’s commitment to strengthening internal capacity and fostering professionalism, efficiency, and customer-centricity in materials testing processes across Lagos State.

At the opening ceremony, the General Manager, Engr. Olayinka Abdul, emphasized that the training forms part of the Agency’s strategic plan to improve operational efficiency and ensure the structural integrity of buildings across the state. Represented by the Director of Administration and Human Resources, Mr. Adewunmi Abayomi, she noted that the curriculum focused on enhancing communication skills, managing client expectations, streamlining service processes, and handling inquiries and feedback professionally.

“The programme empowers staff with strategies for effective upward management, understanding managerial styles, proactive communication, priority management, trust-building, and resource optimization to achieve departmental and agency goals,” Engr. Abdul explained. She stressed that staff are the backbone of the Agency, and investing in their professional development directly supports LSMTL’s mission of safeguarding lives and properties through quality assurance.

The General Manager encouraged participants to be proactive, understand the bigger picture, and collaborate with supervisors to achieve faster turnaround times, clearer communication with clients, and a more productive work environment. She highlighted the critical role LSMTL plays in ensuring construction materials and procedures meet specified standards, contributing to Lagos State’s vision of a sustainable, well-planned, and secure megacity.

The training concluded with the presentation of certificates to participants, serving as a commitment to uphold professionalism and excellence in executing the Agency’s mandate.
