At the commissioning of Ekiti State’s new Pharma-Grade Drug Warehouse and the flag-off of medical equipment distribution to Primary Health Centres across the state, the Governor emphasized that the health and wellbeing of residents remain central to the administration’s agenda.
Supported by the Global Fund, the new warehouse is expected to ensure a steady supply of safe, quality, and affordable medicines, curb the circulation of counterfeit drugs, and prevent frequent shortages in hospitals.
The Ekiti State Drug Management Agency has recorded remarkable progress, with monthly revenue increasing from ₦28 million to ₦75 million, demonstrating transparency and sustainability in the drug supply chain.
Under the Ulera Wa Health Scheme, over 200,000 residents have directly benefited, while nearly 750,000 people have accessed healthcare services through the initiative.
Additionally, the administration has revitalized 103 Primary Healthcare Centres under the World Bank-supported IMPACT project and approved the recruitment of 250 additional health workers to address manpower gaps in the health sector.
These interventions mark a significant step toward Universal Health Coverage in Ekiti State, ensuring that residents across the state have equitable access to quality healthcare.
