Former Nigerian President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, and former Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, have arrived in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, as part of regional efforts to ensure a peaceful and credible presidential election scheduled for tomorrow, October 25, 2025.

Jonathan, who leads the West African Elders Forum (WAEF) delegation, and Osinbajo, serving as Head of the Joint Observation Mission representing both the African Union (AU) and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), are expected to play crucial roles in monitoring the electoral process.

Their arrival underscores West Africa’s collective commitment to democratic governance, peace, and stability in the region. Both leaders are expected to engage with key political stakeholders, civil society representatives, and election officials to assess the country’s preparedness ahead of the polls.

The 2025 Côte d’Ivoire Presidential Election is being closely watched across the continent, as the nation continues to strengthen its democratic institutions following past electoral tensions. The presence of Jonathan and Osinbajo, two of Nigeria’s most respected statesmen, is seen as a significant step toward fostering transparency and confidence in the electoral process.
