In a disturbing development, Uchechi Okwu-Kanu, wife of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has alleged on her verified X social media account that a new officer assigned to the Department of State Services (DSS) attempted to attack her husband at the DSS headquarters.
According to her post, the officer reportedly kicked Mazi Kanu inside his cell, prompting other DSS personnel to intervene and remove the assailant from the area. Mrs. Okwu-Kanu suggested that the incident may be part of a broader plot within the DSS to harm or possibly assassinate her husband under the pretext of a dispute with a DSS officer.
She described the officer’s actions as unacceptable and called on the DSS to ensure Mazi Kanu’s safety while in custody. She also warned that any harm to the IPOB leader could trigger widespread backlash from the organization globally.
The DSS has yet to release an official statement regarding the incident, and the situation has heightened tensions among IPOB members and supporters who continue to monitor Mazi Kanu’s welfare closely.
