A distressed man who claimed he sold his house, spent more than N30 million and lost his wife while working for the All Progressives Congress during the 2023 elections staged a dramatic one‑man protest at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja on Thursday, holding a banner that read “Reward me or kill me”. The man, who wore an APC‑branded blue shirt, also alleged that his three children had gone missing after he left them in the care of the party’s Chief Security Officer because he could no longer afford their school fees.

Videos of the protest, first posted on Facebook and later shared widely on X by user @dammiedammie35, show the unnamed man pacing the entrance of the secretariat under bright daylight, repeatedly raising his placard and shouting his grievances toward the building. “I sold my house because of the debt I seemed to owe APC. Because of the work I worked for APC,” he said. When bystanders asked who sent him, he pointed at his APC‑branded shirt and replied, “These are the people that sent me.”.

The banner he carried read in full: “All Progressives Congress. Reward me or kill me. I’m a party man and not a lunatic. I have lost so much for the party. I am depressed and my health is affected.”. According to his account, his sacrifices were tied to the 2023 general election campaigns, after which he received no compensation. He also claimed that the party’s Chief Security Officer had threatened to shoot him and that “nothing will happen.”.

The man further revealed that his wife had died, that he was now homeless and that he could no longer provide for his children. “I sold my house, I spent more than N30 million for APC in 2023. My wife died, I’m homeless now and APC has failed to reward me,” he said, drawing sympathy from some onlookers. The roughly 30‑second clip, shot vertically on a phone camera, shows him visibly distressed, his voice strained and his expression etched with despair as he repeatedly hoisted the placard toward the secretariat gate.

Throughout the protest, no official of the APC came out to address him, according to the footage. Security operatives later intervened to calm the situation and prevent escalation. The APC had not issued any statement on the incident as of the time of this report.

The incident has sparked widespread conversation online, with many Nigerians reacting with a mixture of sympathy and skepticism. Some questioned why anyone would make such heavy personal sacrifices for a political party without a formal agreement, while others pointed to the inherent risks of investing everything in partisan politics.

This protest comes as the APC prepares for the 2027 general elections and highlights the growing discontent among some grassroots supporters who feel they have been abandoned after the party’s electoral victory in 2023. It also raises fundamental questions about the party’s internal reward and support systems for loyalists who claim to have sacrificed their personal assets and wellbeing for the party’s success.

As the video continues to circulate, the man’s identity remains unknown, and his current whereabouts are unclear. The APC has yet to issue an official statement addressing his claims, and there has been no indication of whether any intervention has been made to assist him or locate his missing children.
