The Edo State Directorate of Educational Quality Assurance (DEQA) has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring accountability and excellence across the state’s education system. This was emphasized during its monthly review meeting held in Benin City, which brought together Chief Inspectors of Education (CIEs) and departmental staff from all 18 Local Government Areas of Edo State.
The meeting aimed to evaluate progress, share field reports, and strategize ways to uphold the state’s education standards under the leadership of Governor Monday Okpebholo.
In her address, the Director General of DEQA, Dr. Mrs. Amen Ogbemudia Uhunwuangho, commended the unwavering commitment of CIEs and staff who continue to drive effective monitoring, evaluation, and supervision of schools across the state. She urged education stakeholders to focus on data-driven inspections and support-based supervision, emphasizing that the Directorate’s work extends beyond inspection — it is about mentorship and quality improvement.
“Our mission is not just to inspect schools but to support and inspire improvement,” she stated. “Every inspection should reflect our dedication to building a culture of excellence and accountability in Edo State’s education ecosystem.”
During the session, CIEs from various LGAs presented updates on school resumption monitoring, highlighting both successes and field challenges, while proposing innovative solutions for better coordination between state and local education offices.

Mr. Kenneth Eguakun, CIE representing Igueben LGA, pledged to intensify school oversight visits and provide continuous support to teachers and principals in implementing quality improvement plans.
Concluding the meeting, Prof. Patrick E. Enaigbe, an internal stakeholder with DEQA, called for teamwork, innovation, and proactive engagement, urging education officers to maintain Edo State’s reputation for strong educational standards.
The meeting underscored DEQA’s unwavering commitment to supporting the Ministry of Education’s reform agenda, ensuring that every child in Edo State learns in a safe, equitable, and well-supervised environment.
