In a statement released on his verified Facebook page, former Vice President and presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has criticized the resignation of Uche Nnaji, the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, describing it as a cover-up that exposes “a deep moral crisis” within the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Atiku accused the federal government of masking what he described as forgery and deceit as routine ministerial reshuffling. “Uche Nnaji should not have been allowed the courtesy of resignation. He should have been summarily dismissed and prosecuted for deceit and falsification,” Atiku wrote. He further stated that permitting Nnaji to exit quietly demonstrates that the current administration is composed of “forgers, impostors, and morally bankrupt individuals masquerading as public servants.”

The former vice president singled out the Department of State Services (DSS), noting that the agency had previously screened out some officials for alleged security concerns but had cleared Nnaji. He criticized the DSS for what he described as a failure of due diligence that has “made Nigeria an object of ridicule before the world.”

Atiku also connected the issue to President Tinubu, asserting that the alleged history of inconsistencies in the president’s identity, age, and academic records has contributed to a culture of institutionalized falsehood in government. “When a man of questionable identity leads a country, deception becomes the standard of governance,” he wrote.

Calling for immediate action, Atiku demanded an independent, transparent, and comprehensive investigation into the academic and professional credentials of all members of the Federal Executive Council, starting with the President himself. He argued that Nigerians have a right to know the truth about those entrusted with national leadership and resources.

The statement warns that unless such measures are taken, Nigeria risks sinking “deeper into moral decay, economic ruin, and global embarrassment,” and emphasizes the need to restore integrity in public service.

Atiku’s comments come amid growing scrutiny of the Tinubu administration following Minister Nnaji’s resignation, which was officially presented as voluntary, despite allegations of misconduct.
