The Group CEO of NNPC Ltd., Engr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari, has revealed that the company is facing opposition from elements opposed to ongoing reforms, but assured that the transformation efforts would continue for the benefit of Nigerians.
Ojulari made the disclosure while hosting a delegation from the Petroleum & Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) at the NNPC Towers on Thursday, 28th August 2025. He explained that while change comes at a cost, the management team remains committed to long-term goals and will not yield to short-term pressures.
“We are under attack. We will not budge to short-term pressure, as it will not be in the best interest of Nigerians. You cannot drive change without a price, and the transformation is tough,” Ojulari said, urging patience from Nigerians as the reforms take root.
The GCEO highlighted efforts since his appointment five months ago, focusing on reviving the nation’s refineries using a sustainable Incorporated Joint Venture (IJV) model. He emphasized that reforms are being implemented cautiously to ensure long-term sustainability rather than quick fixes.
Ojulari expressed gratitude to PENGASSAN for their continued support, assuring workers that resilience and collaboration are essential during the ongoing reforms. “I am overwhelmed with the support from the union executives present here. The enemies of this company and Nigerians will not win,” he added.
In his remarks, PENGASSAN President, Comrade Festus Osifo, commended the NNPC management for its achievements, noting significant reductions in crude oil theft, improved pipeline operations, and increased production. He affirmed the union’s commitment to collaborate with the NNPC management to maintain stability and ensure the success of the transformation agenda.
The interaction underscores NNPC’s resolve to continue its reform agenda while maintaining a strong partnership with key stakeholders for the benefit of Nigerians.
