The Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) has charged members of its Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) to uphold the highest standards of integrity, responsibility, and commitment to national interest in the discharge of their duties. This call was made during a two-day induction and orientation training for newly inaugurated ACTU members in Nasarawa State.

The Chairman of RMAFC, Dr. Mohammad Bello Shehu, OFR, emphasized the importance of ACTU in promoting transparency and a corruption-free system, which aligns perfectly with the Commission's mandate. He noted that the Commission was undergoing a critical phase, having recently achieved a major milestone with the signing of the RMAFC Bill into law by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Dr. Shehu emphasized the need for ACTU members to demonstrate the Commission's core values of fairness, justice, and equity. He reiterated RMAFC's commitment to supporting the unit while expecting equal dedication and diligence in return. The training covered several critical areas, including budget monitoring and implementation, system study and review, ethics and integrity compliance, and overview of the ACTU standing order.

The Secretary of the Unit, Mr. Mohammed Bashir Umar, thanked participants for their commitment and noted that the training had equipped members with the knowledge of how and when to apply extant rules effectively. He emphasized the importance of ACTU in identifying and addressing irregularities, stating that each member has a duty to strive towards correcting any abnormality they encounter.

The RMAFC's commitment to promoting transparency and accountability through the ACTU is a significant step towards ensuring integrity in the Commission's operations. The training and induction of ACTU members demonstrate the Commission's dedication to supporting the unit and promoting a culture of transparency and accountability. With the right mindset and support, ACTU members can play a critical role in promoting fairness, justice, and equity in the Commission's operations.
