LASCOCO & Cooperative University of Kenya Inaugurate Joint Academic Committee to Advance Cooperative Education Across Africa

In a landmark move to strengthen cooperative education and cross-border academic collaboration, the Lagos State Cooperative College (LASCOCO) and the Cooperative University of Kenya (CUK) have inaugurated a Joint Academic Working Committee through a virtual meeting held recently.

This initiative marks the beginning of a dynamic partnership between two leading cooperative institutions in Africa, aimed at fostering innovation, shared learning, and impactful development within the cooperative sector across the continent.

🔍 Purpose of the Joint Committee

The committee, set to operate over a three-year term, has been mandated with the following key responsibilities:

Develop a structured framework for collaboration between the institutions.

Identify priority areas for cooperation in academic programmes, research, and cooperative sector development.

Initiate joint programmes including:

Student and faculty exchanges

Collaborative research

Curriculum development

Professional certification initiatives

The committee will be co-chaired by Professor Oguntola Danoye-Laguda (LASCOCO) and Professor Wycliffe Oboka (CUK), both of whom expressed commitment to achieving tangible results in the short, medium, and long term.
