NDLEA Director of Seaport Operations Pays Courtesy Visit to Western Naval Command

On Wednesday, August 6, 2025, the Flag Officer Commanding Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral Mike Gregory Oamen, received the Director of Seaport Operations, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Assistant Commander General of Narcotics (ACGN) Archie-Abia Ibinabo, during a courtesy visit to the Western Naval Command Headquarters, Apapa, Lagos.

 

This strategic visit was aimed at reinforcing the existing collaboration between the Nigerian Navy and the NDLEA, with a strong focus on intelligence sharing and operational synergy—particularly in securing Nigeria’s maritime borders against drug trafficking and related threats.

In her remarks, ACGN Ibinabo stressed the growing importance of cooperation between maritime security agencies.

> “The NDLEA recognizes the Navy's vital role in maintaining maritime security. Continuous intelligence sharing and collaboration are essential in combating drug trafficking through our seaports,” she stated.

She expressed appreciation for the unwavering support the Western Naval Command has consistently extended to the NDLEA’s operations.

 

In response, Rear Admiral Oamen warmly welcomed the delegation and emphasized the Navy’s enduring commitment to inter-agency collaboration.

 

> “National security demands unity of effort. The Nigerian Navy remains committed to supporting initiatives that strengthen cooperation with the NDLEA and other security agencies,” he noted.
