The victim's father, Princewill Obodo, has made grave allegations that have deepened the crisis. Speaking with journalists, he claimed that the police officers involved were paid to kill his son. He alleged that the officers were initially deployed to provide security at the NBA conference before they were moved to the area where his son was shot. The grieving father also claimed that police authorities who visited his residence confirmed that Anthony was innocent. "My son was assassinated by the Nigeria Police," Princewill Obodo declared. He has called for a thorough and impartial investigation into the circumstances surrounding his son's death and has firmly rejected claims that the deceased was involved in any criminal activity.
