Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, representing Sokoto North Senatorial District, has launched the second phase of his empowerment program aimed at improving livelihoods across Sokoto North, Sokoto South, Wamakko, and Kware Local Government Areas.

The launch event, held in Kware, saw the distribution of 200 electric tricycles, 1,000 bags of 50kg rice for each local government, 200 motorcycles for ward chairmen, women leaders, social media coordinators, and traditional leaders. Additional support included sewing machines and grinding machines to promote self-reliance among women and enhance local economic activities.

Alhaji Nasiru Italy, APC youth leader representing Senator Wamakko, revealed that the program has already reached eight local governments, with plans to extend to the remaining 15 local governments across the state.

Deputy Speaker of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, Alhaji Kabiru Ibrahim Kware, praised the senator for his commitment to constituents, highlighting the unprecedented scale of the rice distribution. Similarly, Alhaji Yahaya Buhari Siriddawa, APC vice chairman for Sokoto Central Zone, described the initiative as historic, noting that residents have not witnessed such largesse in over three decades.

Local government officials and community leaders lauded Senator Wamakko’s initiative, urging beneficiaries to use the items responsibly. The recipients expressed gratitude, noting that the tricycles, motorcycles, and food supplies would significantly improve their livelihoods.

The empowerment program is designed to foster self-sufficiency, boost grassroots development, and enhance the quality of life for residents across Sokoto State. The senator’s office confirmed that the program would continue to expand, reinforcing his commitment to social upliftment.
