Security operatives have uncovered another case of impersonation in Lagos as the 9 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Ikeja, arrested and handed over a 36-year-old man, Animashaun Khalid, for parading himself as a military officer.
Khalid was picked up at the popular Arena Market in Oshodi after he was found with a forged Nigerian Army identity card carrying his name and the rank of Major. He was immediately transferred to the Lagos State Police Command, in what officials described as a smooth show of inter-agency cooperation.
Police authorities confirmed that the case has been assigned to the Special Squad I, which will investigate the source of the fake documents, identify possible accomplices, and establish whether the suspect used the false identity to carry out other crimes. Once investigations are complete, Khalid will be charged to court.
Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, praised the army for the swift action and prompt handover, emphasizing that such collaboration is crucial in the fight against crime. He also urged members of the public to remain alert and promptly report suspicious activities, assuring that the synergy between security agencies would continue to strengthen safety across Lagos State.
