In a decisive move to reform the state’s transport revenue system, Plateau State Commissioner for Transport, Hon. Davou Jatau Gyang, has officially inaugurated the Task Force on Daily Tricycle Revenue Collection. Describing the event as a pivotal step toward enhancing efficiency, transparency, and accountability within the transportation sector, the Commissioner highlighted the critical role of the transport system as the backbone of any developing economy, facilitating trade, connecting communities, and driving sustainable development. Hon. Gyang explained that the task force is part of the Ministry’s unwavering commitment to reforming and repositioning the transport revenue collection process. The initiative seeks to ensure that daily ticketing across public motor parks, bus terminals, and loading bays is conducted in a transparent, digitized, and accountable manner, aiming to eliminate illegal tolling, extortion, and exploitation of transport operators. The Commissioner emphasized that the task force is composed of carefully selected professionals from relevant departments and agencies, and urged its members to carry out their responsibilities with integrity, professionalism, and patriotism. In his address, Hon. John Bala Musa, speaking on behalf of the Tricycle Union, assured the Ministry of full cooperation, emphasizing that operators were law-abiding citizens committed to supporting the initiative. Mrs. Jummai M. Shekarau, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transport, charged the task force to approach its duties with the highest level of dedication and accountability, emphasizing that the success of the reform depends heavily on their commitment and performance.
