The Kwara State Government has approved the immediate admission of visually impaired girls into Queen Elizabeth Secondary School, Ilorin, providing free education, meals, and accommodation in a bid to strengthen inclusivity in education.

Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe, announced the policy on behalf of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, highlighting the government’s commitment to reducing the number of out-of-school children in the state. The initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal Four, which advocates for inclusive and equitable quality education for all, without discrimination.

Quoting Governor AbdulRazaq, Dr. Olohungbebe said, "This decision is a bold step to guarantee no child is left behind in Kwara. Every child, regardless of physical challenge, deserves quality education and opportunity."

The policy aims to open learning avenues for visually impaired girls, promote social equity, tackle exclusion, reduce inequality, and enhance human capital development across Kwara State. Stakeholders have hailed the move as a significant step toward ensuring that vulnerable children have equal access to quality education and the opportunities it provides for future empowerment.
