Troops of 3 Division/Joint Task Force Operation Enduring Peace conducted a successful raid on an illegal arms manufacturing facility in Heipang District, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State on 17 September 2025. The operation, based on actionable intelligence, led to the arrest of a weapons fabricator while several others fled the scene before security forces arrived.
During a thorough search of the site, troops recovered an array of illegal firearms and ammunition, including twelve assorted fabricated weapons, a fabricated pistol, multiple rounds of 7.62 mm and 9 mm ammunition, a smoke grenade, fragmental jackets, a Motorola hand-held radio, and other equipment used in illicit arms production. The suspect and recovered items are now in custody for further investigation, as security forces continue efforts to apprehend the fleeing members of the illegal arms syndicate.
This operation is part of ongoing efforts by the Joint Task Force to eliminate illegal arms production and restrict the circulation of illicit weapons in the Joint Operations Area. Security authorities have appealed to the public to provide timely and credible intelligence to support the drive against criminal networks, emphasizing that community cooperation is crucial to sustaining peace and curbing armed violence.
