The Edo State Government, through its training arm, the John Odigie-Oyegun Public Service Academy (JOOPSA), has successfully concluded a five-day intensive training programme on graphic design and web development, aimed at strengthening capacity and enhancing skills development among the State’s workforce.
At the closing session, the Director-General of JOOPSA, Dr. (Mrs.) Gina Otamere, congratulated participants for their successful completion of the programme. She reaffirmed the Academy’s commitment to human capital development in Edo State, stating, “Our focus at JOOPSA is strengthening capacity and enhancing skills development. This training is a testament to our commitment as an institution that equips individuals with relevant knowledge for the future.”
Dr. Otamere also commended the Edo State Governor, His Excellency, Sen. Monday Okpebholo, for his visionary leadership and support for digital innovation in the State. She added, “The Governor’s agenda for a digitally skilled and empowered workforce is the driving force behind programmes like this. His commitment to bridging knowledge and technology gaps continues to inspire our work at JOOPSA, and we remain dedicated to translating his vision into practical impact.”
The training was facilitated by professionals from D-Expertz Computer Technology, led by Mrs. Juliet Akpovona, who guided participants through practical sessions in graphic design and website development.
Participants expressed their appreciation for the programme’s quality and practical approach. Mr. Idiafo Kingsley from the State’s Bureau of Statistics praised the facilitators for their patience and ability to engage all participants effectively.
Delivering the vote of thanks, Mr. Okundaye Malcolm from Edo Broadcasting Service (EBS) commended Governor Okpebholo, Dr. Otamere, and the JOOPSA team for organizing the impactful programme. He highlighted that the training successfully bridged generational gaps between participants from the 1980s and Generation Z, helping to close the divide in knowledge and technological skills.
The programme, which attracted a diverse group of participants, underscores JOOPSA’s vision of preparing Edo State’s workforce to meet contemporary challenges in governance and technology.
