AWKA, Nigeria — The Anambra State Police Command has bolstered its operational strength with the deployment of over seventy newly passed-out constables from the Police Training College, Oji River, Enugu State.
The fresh deployment, received on October 8, 2025, forms part of the broader initiative of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, aimed at reinforcing manpower capacity across the federation and enhancing community-based policing at the grassroots level.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc, minps, PhD, assured residents that the newly deployed constables would be strategically assigned across various police divisions and formations within the state.
“The new officers will enhance visibility policing, intelligence gathering, and ensure a prompt response to security situations across Anambra State,” CP Orutugu stated.
The Commissioner reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to maintaining law and order, emphasizing that the reinforcement aligns with ongoing national efforts to strengthen policing structures and improve public confidence in security agencies.
According to the Command, the deployment reflects the Nigeria Police Force’s renewed focus on proactive crime prevention, intelligence-led operations, and deeper community engagement in line with the IGP’s vision of a people-oriented policing system.
Residents have been encouraged to cooperate with the new officers, provide credible information, and continue supporting the police in safeguarding lives and property across the state.
The Anambra State Police Command reiterated its resolve to ensure the safety of all citizens, assuring that the officers’ deployment will help sustain the relative peace and security enjoyed in the state.
