Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has restated his administration’s determination to deliver practical, result-oriented governance and to diversify the state’s economy through large-scale agricultural investment.
The governor made this known during an inspection tour of the state-owned farm in Udomi, located in Edo Central Senatorial District, where he led top government officials to assess ongoing agricultural projects.
Speaking at the site, Governor Okpebholo described the Udomi Farm as a symbol of his administration’s commitment to action-driven policies that directly impact the lives of Edo people.
“This is a practical farm by my administration that delivers on practical governance. That is what you are seeing here. We do not just talk; we do it for you to see,” the governor said.
He praised the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security for the progress made so far and reaffirmed his focus on food security, job creation, and economic diversification through mechanized and sustainable farming.
The governor emphasized that the Udomi Farm demonstrates a shift from policy promises to tangible results, reinforcing his government’s vision to empower local farmers, promote agribusiness, and strengthen the state’s agricultural value chain.
During the inspection, the Director of Agricultural Services, Ogunbo Osarobo David, briefed the governor and his entourage, revealing that the maize cultivated on the farm had reached harvesting stage. According to him, the farm currently yields six to seven tons of maize per hectare across 400 hectares, with the Prime Flour Mill at Ewu serving as the major off-taker.
Earlier in the day, Governor Okpebholo had also inspected ongoing construction work at the Benin Flyover, Ramat Park, Benin City, to assess progress before proceeding to the Udomi Farm.
