PDP BoT Disowns Circulating Reconciliation Report, Insists Convention Will Hold in November

The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has firmly distanced itself from a document being circulated in the media and described as the “Report of the BoT Reconciliation Committee.”

In a statement signed by its Chairman, Senator Adolphus Wabara, the BoT made it clear that the document does not represent its official position. According to the Board, the report was neither discussed nor adopted by the BoT and should not be regarded as its stance in any form.

The BoT reaffirmed its full support for the party’s elective National Convention scheduled to take place from Saturday, November 15 to Sunday, November 16, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State. The convention is expected to produce a new set of national leaders who will steer the affairs of the party for the next four years.

The statement emphasized that the decision to proceed with the convention aligns with a Supreme Court judgment that reinforces the autonomy and supremacy of political parties in managing their internal affairs.

In line with this, the BoT rejected ongoing suggestions for the establishment of a caretaker committee, stressing that such an idea is completely out of consideration. The Board noted that both the BoT and the PDP have “irreversibly decided” on conducting an elective convention, a process it described as strictly within the party’s internal jurisdiction where courts have no role.

The BoT urged party members across the country to remain focused and committed to ensuring the success of the upcoming convention.

The statement was signed by Sen. Adolphus Wabara, Chairman, PDP Board of Trustees.
