Imo State, Nigeria — The Imo State Police Command has arrested five individuals in connection with the brutal assault of Mrs. Agu Ndididamaka in Emekuku, Owerri North LGA, a case that gained nationwide attention after the video of the attack went viral. The arrests come following a directive from Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, who vowed justice for the victim.
“The Imo State Police Command wishes to provide an update on the investigation ordered by the Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma,” the police stated. The investigation was launched after a video surfaced online showing Mrs. Agu being assaulted, sparking outrage across the country.
“In furtherance of the CP’s directive for swift action, operatives of the X-Squad Unit have arrested five suspects linked to the barbaric assault,” the police said. The arrested individuals are: Onyekachi Njoku, 40 years; Chiazor Osuji, 45 years; Chukwuma Iwuala, 46 years; Eugene Njoku; and Njoku Emmanuel, 35 years, all residents of Uboegbelu in Emekuku.
“All five suspects have made confessional statements admitting their roles in the attack,” the police confirmed. Meanwhile, a sixth suspect, Onyedikachi Njoku, remains at large, with police intensifying efforts to apprehend him.
The Commissioner of Police condemned the assault in its entirety and emphasised that intimidation of citizens who lawfully cooperate with the police will not be tolerated. “The arrested suspects will be arraigned in court soonest with the appropriate criminal charges,” the command added.
CP Danjuma’s swift response underscores the commitment of the Imo State Police to ensure justice for victims of violence and to reassure the public that such acts will be met with decisive action.
