The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has announced the appointment of Mr. John Okor Odey as its new official spokesperson. Mr. Odey is a Deputy Director in the commission.

He takes over from Mr. Demola Bakare and will also lead the newly created Media and Public Communications Unit, which operates under the Office of the ICPC Chairman.

The ICPC believes that Mr. Odey’s rich experience in communication will help the agency connect better with the public and improve how it works with the media. His role is crucial in making sure more people know about the fight against corruption and understand what the ICPC is doing to promote transparency.

Mr. Odey started his career as an editor and later worked in broadcasting as a scriptwriter and presenter. Over the years, he has held important positions within the ICPC, including roles in public education, protocol, and regional operations.

He has a strong background in media, public relations, and strategic messaging. Mr. Odey holds a degree in English Literature, a Master’s in Leadership Studies, and an MPhil in Leadership and Strategic Studies. He also has a Professional Diploma in Public Relations and is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations.

His appointment was officially announced by Clifford Okwudiri Oparaodu, the Secretary to the ICPC, on November 20, 2025.
