The Borno State Police Command has announced a major operation against criminal activities in Maiduguri. On November 21, 2025, officers from the Rapid Response Squad’s Anti-Social Vices Unit carried out a coordinated raid on known criminal hideouts across the city.
The operation was carried out under the directive of the Police Commissioner, CP Naziru Abdulmajid. The police targeted several hotspots, including Kasuwan Fara, Baga Road, Bolori Kofa Biyu, Shehuri North, State Low-Cost, Bulabulin, Pompomari Bypass, and Albaganaram.
During the raid, the police arrested 20 suspects for various crimes such as possession of dangerous weapons, drug use, causing public disturbance, and vagrancy. The officers also recovered several dangerous items, including three knives, 128 wraps of suspected Indian hemp, four cups of dried leaves believed to be Laud, one ice bunker, and 12 wraps of cough syrup.
All suspects and the recovered items are now in police custody and are undergoing initial investigations before they are taken to court. The Police Commissioner emphasized the commitment of the Borno Police to fight crime and ensure safety for all residents.
This operation is part of ongoing efforts by law enforcement to create a peaceful environment in Maiduguri and the broader Borno State. The police spokesperson, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso Anipr, confirmed these details in the official statement released on November 22, 2025.
