Troops from the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, part of Operation Whirl Stroke, have achieved a major breakthrough in their fight against crime in Taraba State. On November 22, 2025, they arrested a wanted and notorious kidnap suspect in Wukari Local Government Area.
The suspect, Mr. Umar Musa Geyi, was caught in Jandei-Kulamu after soldiers received trustworthy intelligence. Geyi is believed to be a key member of a kidnapping gang that has terrorized several communities in the area.
Preliminary investigations link him to the kidnapping of Alhaji Jano, a Fulani resident of Jandei-Kulala, who was abducted on November 13, 2025. The victim is still being held captive.
Geyi was arrested after troops intercepted him during a phone call, where he confirmed the victim was in captivity and demanded a ransom of ₦20 million for his release. He is now in police custody, and authorities are continuing to interrogate him to find and rescue the victim.
The Commander of 6 Brigade, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, praised the soldiers for their quick action and commitment. He reaffirmed the army’s dedication to breaking criminal networks, rescuing victims, and restoring peace in Taraba State.
He also urged members of the public to stay alert and provide timely information to support security efforts.
This statement was issued by Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, on November 23, 2025.
