Benin City, Edo State – Authorities in Edo State have arrested popular TikTok influencer Praise Nwogu, popularly known as CandyTeddy, alongside Ebong Emem Oghosa, 25, for producing and selling brownies laced with illicit drugs.
The arrests took place on Saturday, November 22, 2025, and were confirmed by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) through a statement issued by their Director of Media & Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, on Sunday.
According to the statement, CandyTeddy was found in possession of 12 plates and a cup of drug-laced brownies, while Ebong Emem Oghosa was caught with 76 grams of skunk, 1.5 grams of Colorado, and drug-laced brownies.
The case highlights growing concerns over the use of social media platforms by young individuals to promote and distribute illegal substances, prompting intensified efforts by Edo State authorities to crack down on drug trafficking and abuse.
Investigations are ongoing as law enforcement works to dismantle networks operating within the state.
The arrests serve as a warning to influencers and young entrepreneurs that social media fame cannot shield illegal activities from law enforcement scrutiny.
