Residents of Kurmaci community in Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State are reeling from another violent assault after bandits launched an early-morning attack, leaving several people injured and abducted.
The latest incident comes barely days after more than 40 residents were kidnapped in nearby Gandun Wasagu, signalling a rapid escalation of insecurity across the LGA. Community members say the frequency and boldness of the attacks have left families in constant fear, with many now struggling to cope with the relentless violence.
Security watchers note that Danko-Wasagu LGA has long been a hotspot for armed banditry, and worry is deepening because this is the same local government where the once-troubled GGCSS Maga community was located — a reminder of how persistent and unresolved the insecurity has been.
As abducted residents remain in captivity and others nurse injuries, locals are calling for urgent action from security agencies to halt what they describe as a growing siege on rural communities in Kebbi State.
