Former Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor, has raised serious concerns over the funding of terrorism in Nigeria, alleging that some politicians are directly involved in supporting terrorist activities.
Speaking on the issue, Irabor highlighted the worrying connection between political figures and the financing of terrorist groups, stressing that such support undermines national security and fuels violence across the country.
The former military chief’s comments come amid ongoing efforts by security agencies to tackle terrorism and insurgency in various parts of Nigeria. He called for heightened vigilance, thorough investigations, and accountability to ensure that perpetrators, including those allegedly providing financial backing, are brought to justice.
Security analysts say Irabor’s statement underscores the urgent need for transparency and strict monitoring of political and financial activities to curb the funding of extremist groups in Nigeria.
