Former Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, has issued a firm rebuttal to a viral online publication claiming he resigned due to objections over alleged military actions by the United States and the Tinubu administration. In a strongly worded statement, Badaru dismissed the report as “malicious, false, and baseless,” emphasizing that the inflammatory remarks did not come from him or from any authorized source acting on his behalf.

He said the fabricated narrative was clearly crafted “to tarnish my hard-earned reputation” and to provoke unnecessary tension between him and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Badaru stressed that the genuine reasons for his resignation were communicated formally to the President and were made publicly available through established and credible channels. He warned against the spread of disinformation designed to manipulate public perception and destabilize trust in government leadership.

Reaffirming his political alignment and commitment to national security, Badaru stated that his “loyalty to the President and unwavering support for the Renewed Hope Agenda remain intact.” He further reiterated his dedication to the peace, stability, and unity of Nigeria, and expressed his continued support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) as preparations intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Badaru’s clarification comes amid increased scrutiny of public office holders and the growing influence of online narratives on political discourse. His response serves as a reminder of the need for responsible reporting and verification of public statements before dissemination.
