The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has successfully apprehended a suspected ammunition courier linked to banditry operations in Zamfara State, in a coordinated effort involving intelligence from the Nigerian Army and other law enforcement agencies. The arrest, announced by the police on social media, underscores the continued crackdown on criminal networks responsible for insecurity across the North-West region.

According to the FCT Police Command, the suspect was intercepted while transporting a substantial cache of weapons and ammunition reportedly intended for armed groups perpetrating violent attacks, kidnappings, and other criminal activities in Zamfara. Security sources suggest that the individual has played a critical role in sustaining the operational capabilities of bandit gangs, making the arrest a significant step toward disrupting the supply chain of arms that fuels violent crime in the region.

Officials revealed that the suspect is currently in police custody, where interrogations are underway to uncover the broader network of collaborators involved in supplying arms to bandits. The FCT Police Command emphasized that this arrest demonstrates the effectiveness of joint operations and intelligence-sharing between security agencies, including the Nigerian Army, in dismantling criminal networks and curbing the flow of illicit weapons.

This operation comes amid ongoing concerns over the proliferation of small arms and light weapons among criminal gangs, which has continued to challenge security forces and place communities at risk. Authorities stressed that proactive policing, coupled with strategic intelligence gathering, remains central to the fight against banditry and the restoration of peace and security across affected states.

The FCT Police have urged members of the public to continue providing information that could assist in apprehending other individuals involved in arms trafficking, highlighting the critical role of community collaboration in securing the nation.
