Adamawa State First Lady, Her Excellency Hajiya Lami Ahmadu Fintiri, has called for intensified efforts to tackle digital violence against women and girls as she led the close-out ceremony of the 2025 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.

The event, held at the Banquet Hall of Government House, Yola, brought together key stakeholders to mark the official end of this year’s global campaign.

Represented by the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Neido Geoffrey Kofulto, the First Lady described the 16-day campaign as a period of deep reflection, meaningful engagement, and renewed commitment to building a safer society for women and girls across Adamawa State.

She expressed profound appreciation to the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) for its unwavering support and technical assistance, noting that the partnership has strengthened interventions and created real impact in communities across the state.

Hajiya Lami also commended civil society groups, traditional leaders, development partners, community champions, and volunteers for their dedication throughout the campaign. She stressed that the fight against gender-based violence must continue beyond the 16-day period.

Speaking at the event, UNFPA representative Dr. Danladi Idrisa urged stakeholders to carry the message into homes, schools, workplaces, and communities, noting that sustained action is essential to ensure every woman and girl lives free from fear and violence.

The close-out event was attended by top government officials, including commissioners, permanent secretaries, wives of state assembly members, women’s groups, GBV sub-sector representatives, and partners across Adamawa’s 21 local government areas.
