Oyo Police Apprehend Robbery Suspect, Recover Stolen Motorcycle in Olorunda Aba

Ibadan, Oyo State — The Oyo State Police Command has successfully apprehended a suspected robber and recovered a stolen motorcycle in Olorunda Aba, highlighting the command’s continued commitment to crime prevention and public safety. The arrest follows a prompt response to a reported robbery on the night of December 25, 2025, at around 10:30 p.m., in the Adanla Area of Eniosa, Olorunda Aba.

According to the police, two armed suspects on an unregistered motorcycle attacked and dispossessed two men, identified as Mutiu Adeyemo and Akinpelu Ojo, of their TVS motorcycle while they were returning home. When the police patrol arrived on the scene, the suspects attempted to flee, abandoning the stolen motorcycle during the pursuit. One suspect, later identified as Sunday Onah, fell from the motorcycle while evading arrest and was successfully taken into custody, while the second suspect remains at large.

Following his arrest, Onah reportedly confessed to committing the robbery and admitted participation in similar criminal activities in the past. The recovered motorcycle has been secured as evidence, and the police have intensified efforts to track down the fleeing accomplice. Upon the conclusion of investigations, Onah is expected to be formally charged in court.

The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for comprehensive investigation, as directed by the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, CP Femi Haruna, psc(+), who commended the operatives for their professionalism, prompt response, and dedication to duty. CP Haruna also praised the Inspector-General of Police for his leadership and strategic direction, which continue to strengthen the operational effectiveness of the Nigeria Police Force nationwide.

In his statement, the Commissioner reassured residents of Oyo State of the command’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property. He urged citizens to cooperate with the police by providing timely and credible information to aid crime prevention and detection.
