Guda Lamido Village, Kashere, Akko LGA, Gombe State — Security agencies in Gombe State successfully repelled an armed bandits’ attack on Guda Lamido Village in the early hours of Monday, January 13, 2026, averting potential loss of life and property in the rural community. The Gombe State Police Command confirmed that the attack was thwarted through coordinated action involving the Nigeria Police Force, local vigilante groups, and community hunters.

According to a statement from the Command, a report was received at approximately 4:00 a.m. indicating that a sizeable group of armed bandits was attempting to invade Guda Lamido Village. Officers and volunteers from the joint patrol team swiftly mobilised and engaged the attackers. The bandits were forced to retreat into the surrounding forest without causing any fatalities or injuries.

The operation, described by the Command as a demonstration of effective collaboration between formal security forces and local community defenders, restored calm and normalcy to the village. Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Ahmed Chuso, commended the gallantry and prompt action of the personnel involved, urging them to maintain vigilance and sustain the tempo of security operations in vulnerable areas.

The Command further assured residents of its continued commitment to protecting lives and property. Patrols and surveillance activities have been intensified across Guda Lamido Village and neighbouring communities to deter any future threats and ensure rapid response to emerging security concerns.

Authorities have also urged residents to remain alert, cooperate with security agencies, and promptly report any suspicious activities. DSP Buhari Abdullahi, Police Public Relations Officer for Gombe State Command, reinforced the need for community engagement, noting that timely information from residents is crucial for preventing attacks and supporting the efforts of security personnel.

The foiled attack comes amid ongoing efforts by state security agencies to contain banditry in Gombe, which has been a recurrent challenge in parts of the North-East region. Analysts note that the collaboration between law enforcement and local community defenders, as demonstrated in Guda Lamido, has increasingly become a critical component in the fight against armed criminal groups.

While the incident ended without casualties, it underscores the persistent threats facing rural communities and the importance of sustained vigilance. Gombe State residents have expressed relief and gratitude toward the security operatives, highlighting that coordinated patrols and rapid response have become key to ensuring safety and deterring criminal activity.

CP Chuso reiterated that the Gombe State Command remains resolute in its mandate to protect citizens, urging community members to support security initiatives and maintain cooperation with authorities. The successful prevention of the Guda Lamido attack is seen as a boost to confidence in the Command’s operational capabilities and a testament to the effectiveness of proactive security strategies in high-risk areas.
