Authorities in Oyo State have arrested a 27-year-old man in connection with the alleged sexual assault and defilement of a 14-year-old girl, bringing renewed attention to the ongoing issue of violence against minors in the region. The suspect, identified as Usman Azeez, was apprehended by operatives of the Ado-Awaye Police Division following a report from the victim’s family.
Preliminary investigations reveal that the incident occurred in Iseyin Local Government Area while the minor was carrying out a routine errand. The girl had gone to fetch water when she was allegedly accosted and assaulted by the suspect. The attack reportedly left the victim traumatized, prompting immediate police intervention.
Law enforcement sources confirmed that upon receiving the distress call, officers swiftly mobilized to secure the scene and take the suspect into custody. The victim was immediately taken to a medical facility for examination and treatment, with findings confirming evidence consistent with sexual assault.
