Prominent Youth Activist Killed by Bandits in Katsina State

Tragedy struck Dandume Local Government Area (LGA) of Katsina State last night as armed bandits attacked residents in the Soro area, killing a prominent young man, Rabi’u Dogo, popularly known as Dogon Barista.

Eyewitnesses reported that bandits stormed the community, abducting three people and opening fire on others. Dogo sustained gunshot wounds during the attack and later succumbed to his injuries at Funtua General Hospital. Two other individuals were also injured and remain under medical care.

Dogo was well known in Katsina for his youth activism, community engagement, and political involvement, earning respect for his efforts to mobilize young people in local development initiatives. His death has sparked grief and outrage among residents, who condemned the attack and called on the authorities to strengthen security in Dandume and surrounding communities.

Local leaders and community members have appealed to the state government and security agencies to intensify operations against bandit groups in the area and ensure the safe return of abducted individuals. The incident highlights ongoing insecurity in parts of northern Nigeria, where bandit attacks continue to threaten lives, property, and social stability.

Security operatives have reportedly begun investigations, and efforts are underway to track and apprehend the perpetrators. Residents have been urged to remain vigilant while cooperating with authorities to prevent further attacks.
