Bandits Shoot Man in Both Legs After Foiled Abduction Attempt in Zamfara

Anka, Zamfara State — A resident of Tudun Anai community in Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State, identified as Aminu, popularly known as Dan Kyunni, has been shot in both legs by armed bandits after an attack on travelers along the Wanke road.

According to information made available, the incident occurred when armed bandits intercepted several travelers on the Wanke route. While other passengers reportedly managed to escape during the attack, Aminu was captured by the assailants.

Sources said he was shot in both legs after resisting attempts by the bandits to abduct him. He was later left behind with gunshot injuries, while the attackers fled the area.

The condition of the victim and whether he has been transferred to a medical facility for treatment remain unclear as of the time of reporting. Local residents described the incident as another example of the persistent insecurity along major and rural roads in Zamfara State, where bandit attacks, abductions, and killings have become frequent.

Communities in Anka and surrounding areas have repeatedly raised concerns over the safety of travelers on highways and feeder roads, calling on security agencies to intensify patrols and restore confidence for road users.

There has been no official statement yet from security authorities regarding the attack or any arrests linked to the incident.
