Oyo Police Launch Investigation After 12-Year-Old Girl Abducted in Ibadan

The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of a 12-year-old female secondary school student in the Challenge area of Ibadan, prompting a high-priority investigation by detectives and local security teams.

Police spokesperson Ayanlade Olayinka stated that the incident occurred around 7:20 a.m. as the victim was alighting from the vehicle that had transported her to her private school. Armed men reportedly intercepted her at a junction leading to the school premises before fleeing the scene with the child. The assailants remain unidentified, and their motive is still under investigation.

The Command reported that eyewitnesses were immediately identified and interviewed, providing critical leads for investigators. Officers have been deployed to the area for intelligence gathering and preliminary assessments, with the goal of swiftly locating and rescuing the girl.

Authorities confirmed that the parents of the student have been contacted and are cooperating closely with the police.
