Armed bandits carried out a raid on Kaurare community in Dodoru Ward of Gwandu Local Government Area, Kebbi State, on the night of February 12, 2026, leaving one woman dead and two men abducted. Residents told reporters that the woman was killed after resisting an attempt to abduct her, while the two male villagers were forcibly taken during the attack.

Eyewitnesses described the assailants as moving swiftly through the community under cover of darkness, targeting homes and individuals along isolated pathways. The incident has heightened fear among locals, many of whom reported fleeing to nearby areas for safety.

Local sources say that the identities of the abducted men have not yet been disclosed publicly, and families are appealing for urgent intervention by security agencies to secure their release. Authorities have yet to issue an official statement, and no immediate rescue operation has been confirmed.

Kebbi State, like other parts of northwestern Nigeria, has experienced recurring attacks by armed bandits, often involving kidnappings for ransom and targeted killings. Residents and community leaders continue to call on government security forces to intensify patrols and establish permanent presence in vulnerable villages to prevent further attacks.
