The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has confirmed that more than 1.58 million registered voters in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have collected their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the area council elections scheduled for Saturday, February 21.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Mohammed Haruna, INEC National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, described the PVC collection exercise as an “impressive outcome” across the six FCT area councils. He revealed that 1,587,025 voters had collected their PVCs out of 1,680,315 registered voters as of February 10, 2026, signaling strong voter participation ahead of the polls.
INEC urged all eligible voters who have not yet collected their PVCs to do so promptly, emphasizing the importance of participation in strengthening democratic processes. The commission reiterated that only duly registered voters with valid PVCs will be permitted to vote in the upcoming elections.
