The Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, has extended warm felicitations to all workers and residents of the state on the occasion of Workers’ Day 2026, while reaffirming the command’s commitment to professionalism and accountability. In a goodwill message issued on Friday, 1 May 2026, the police boss saluted the courage, resilience and ingenuity of Oyo State workers, noting that their dedication continues to drive the socio‑economic growth and development of the state. He emphasized that the commitment demonstrated by workers across all sectors remains vital to sustaining peace, stability and progress.

The Commissioner particularly commended the gallant officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force, alongside other security agencies, for their sacrifice in ensuring the safety of lives and property. He also acknowledged the immense efforts of health workers, teachers, artisans, traders, farmers, transporters, journalists, civil servants and members of organised labour unions, describing them as indispensable partners in nation‑building. CP Olugbenga assured that the command will continue to uphold its constitutional mandate of protecting lives and property across the state, in line with the vision of the Inspector‑General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu.

In a bid to strengthen internal accountability, the Commissioner stated that officers who perform outstandingly well will be duly recognised and rewarded, while any officer who acts contrary to the law will be decisively dealt with through appropriate disciplinary measures. He reassured residents that the command will intensify efforts to maintain law and order through proactive and intelligence‑led policing strategies. He urged all residents to remain law‑abiding, vigilant and supportive of security agencies by providing timely and credible information to aid crime prevention. The Commissioner wished all workers a peaceful and rewarding Workers’ Day celebration.
