The Delta State Police Command has assured residents, particularly Muslim faithful, of adequate security arrangements for the 2026 Eid‑el‑Kabir celebration scheduled for Wednesday, May 27, and Thursday, May 28, 2026.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, ordered the massive deployment of personnel across the state, comprising officers and men drawn from Area Commands, Tactical Teams, Divisions, and other operational units to strategic locations, Eid prayer grounds, major highways, recreational centres, and other vulnerable points. The Command will work in close collaboration with other security and safety agencies, including the Military, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and other relevant stakeholders to ensure the safety of residents and visitors throughout the festive period.
The Commissioner of Police directed all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Tactical Commanders to intensify intelligence gathering, visibility policing, raids of criminal hideouts and black spots, stop‑and‑search operations where necessary, and sustained patrols across their respective areas of responsibility.
These proactive measures are aimed at preventing criminal activities and ensuring that residents celebrate without fear or intimidation. CP Yemi Oyeniyi warned criminal elements to steer clear of the state, assuring that the Command remains prepared to deal decisively with any threat to public peace and security. He urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious persons or activities through the Command Control Room on 08036684974. On behalf of officers and men of the Command, the Commissioner wishes all Muslim faithful a peaceful and hitch‑free Eid‑el‑Kabir celebration and urges residents to continue supporting security agencies, as security remains a collective responsibility.
