The Lagos State Police Command has arrested four suspected hitmen and members of the notorious Aiye Confraternity, who are linked to a series of violent crimes and killings in the Ajanmgbadi area of Ojo Local Government Area and neighbouring communities. The arrests were disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday, 2 June 2026, by the command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi.

The suspects were identified as Emmanuel Nwokolo, alias “Oblo,” aged 35; Ayola Israel, alias “Essy Pawpaw,” aged 39; Ebuka Nnamdi, 31; and Chinedu Okafor, 22. According to police sources, they were apprehended at a hotel in Ajanmgbadi, Ojo LGA, following credible intelligence received by the command.

Preliminary investigations uncovered disturbing evidence linking the suspects to multiple violent criminal activities. A video recovered from one of the suspects’ mobile phones allegedly showed the killing of unidentified persons within Ajanmgbadi and surrounding communities. During interrogation, the suspects reportedly confessed to being members of the dreaded Aiye Confraternity and admitted to being responsible for terrorising residents through a series of killings and other violent crimes.

Further searches conducted by operatives led to the recovery of two locally fabricated pistols, one revolver pistol, and 13 live cartridges believed to have been used in their criminal operations. The police stated that investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of the suspects’ involvement in other criminal cases, identify additional members of the gang, and apprehend all accomplices. The suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, commended the operatives for the successful operation and reassured residents that the command remains resolute in its determination to rid the state of crime and other criminal elements threatening public safety, and to bring perpetrators of violent crimes to justice. He also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue supporting the police with timely and credible information through the command’s emergency lines: 07061019374, 08065154338, 08063299264, 08039344870, and 09168630929.

This arrest marks a significant blow to the Aiye Confraternity, a secret cult known for its violent activities and involvement in murders, armed robbery, and drug trafficking in parts of Lagos. The operation reflects the command’s intensified efforts to curb cultism and violent crime across the state.
