A young female student has been brutally stabbed to death inside her boyfriend's apartment in Warri, Delta State, in a chilling case of domestic violence that has left friends and neighbours devastated. The suspect, identified as Adedamola Michael Oyewole, has been arrested and is currently in police custody.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at the suspect's residence on Ajidi Street, Edjeba community, Warri South Local Government Area. According to reports, the victim, whose name has not been officially released, was a frequent visitor to her boyfriend's apartment.
Tragically, the victim had time to make a desperate phone call to a friend as the attack unfolded. According to a friend who spoke on social media, the victim called in panic to say her boyfriend was harming her. “She called me. She called me when he started killing her and I couldn't do anything,” the friend wrote on X, adding, “Adedamola has killed my friend”. When friends called the victim back, there was no answer. The boyfriend allegedly answered his phone but falsely claimed his girlfriend was not with him.
It was the landlord of the building who raised the alarm after hearing distressing screams coming from the suspect's apartment. Security operatives were alerted and responded promptly to the scene. Upon forcing entry into the apartment, police discovered the lifeless body of the woman bearing severe injuries in the living room, lying in a pool of her own blood. The suspect was immediately arrested and taken into custody for questioning. The victim's remains were evacuated and deposited in a mortuary.
The Delta State Police Command has confirmed the incident. The Command's Public Relations Officer, CSP Bright Edafe, stated that investigations are ongoing. While some media reports described the killing as a beheading, others characterized it as a stabbing. Police authorities have not yet officially clarified the exact nature of the fatal injuries.
There are also conflicting reports regarding the suspect's background. While some sources have labeled him a suspected internet fraudster (yahoo boy), CSP Edafe has stated he is not aware of such claims. The police have assured the public that a thorough investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances of the incident and ensure justice is served.
