The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a planned maintenance exercise at its Akwanga 132/33kV Transmission Substation, which will result in a temporary power outage affecting customers in Akwanga, Nasarawa, and surrounding areas. The maintenance, scheduled to commence at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 7, 2026, will last until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2026, a total of 30 hours.

According to the company, the maintenance will be carried out on the 40MVA 132/33kV Transformer TR1 at the substation. During the period, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) will be unable to off-take bulk electricity supply from the affected transformer to distribute to its customers in Akwanga, Nasarawa and environs, Water Board, and surrounding areas. TCN apologised for any inconvenience the exercise will cause and appreciated the understanding and patience of electricity customers in the affected areas.

The company said the maintenance is necessary to enhance the reliability of the transmission system and improve bulk power supply. TCN urged customers to bear with the temporary disruption as the work is carried out to ensure a more stable and efficient power supply in the future. The company assured that the maintenance would be completed within the scheduled timeframe and that power supply would be restored promptly.
