The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 24-year-old suspected member of the Eiye Confraternity cult group and recovered one locally made single-barrel pistol during a targeted operation at Ogunmokun Under-Bridge in Mushin. The arrest, announced on Friday, August 14, 2026, by the command's Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, followed credible intelligence on cult-related activities in the area.
According to the police, operatives immediately mobilised a surveillance team to the location and arrested Segun Alani, a 24-year-old male suspect. A search of the bag in his possession led to the recovery of one locally made single-barrel pistol, which was concealed inside the bag. The suspect is currently in police custody and is providing useful information to aid the investigation.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, commended the operatives for their prompt response and intelligence-driven operation. He reaffirmed the command's commitment to disrupting cult-related activities and recovering illegal firearms across Lagos State, while warning cultists and other criminal elements to desist from their activities or face the full wrath of the law.
The arrest is part of the command's ongoing efforts to combat cultism and other violent crimes across the state. The police have urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the Lagos State Police Command through the emergency lines provided. The suspect will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
